More than a decade ago I moved to Tucson and after 3 years I knew I wanted to stay. The epic mountain vistas and the iconic Saguaros and the native and wild environs were a photographer’s dream, especially when I pictured a couple in their wedding day clothing against and in those backdrops. Yes, there is something beautiful about the Saguaro cactus standing guard over the desert, but add a stormy sky and a stunning bride to that equation and it’s all winner-winner chicken dinner up in here.

In the last 4 years, I have really started to focus on elopement photography Tucson. I love love love elopements because they often involve couples traveling to Tucson who have either never been before and are drawn here by the epicness I mentioned above, or they have some tie (even brief) to Tucson and just know they want to come back for their elopement celebration. And sure, there are tons of venues here in Tucson that cater to small weddings, but the adventure elopement is what I am seeing more of, and loving. Couples, with less than 10 people (and sometimes only the 2 of them and my assistant and I need to be the witnesses!) and the officiant, meet at a designated and planned location, and for an hour or two we capture ceremony and sunset photos. And it’s the perfection of simplicity. Sometimes there are friends and family, and sometimes there’s dinner and cake afterward (which I am happy to capture as well) but mostly it’s just couples who want and love adventure and want that to be part of their wedding story. Some of them have already made it to the courthouse here in Tucson and are eloping with a friend “officiating” just for the photo op. And some need a recommendation for a Tucson officiant (which I am happy to provide) or a local hair and makeup artist (I’ve got you!). And some want suggestions for simple florals to carry, and some just stop at Trader Joe’s on the way for a gorgeous bouquet.
