Sarah + Mike {engaged}

This engagement session was pure joy. From the towering cactus, to the golden light, the sweeping vistas couldn’t have been more perfect as a romantic setting for Sarah and Mike. This location was super special to them because they got engaged here, and so we ran all around the desert, hunting for the perfect Saguaro and capturing the best, most epic vistas as their backdrop. We even had some spring flowers. I am in love with this session, and these two amazing people. There’s nothing more lovely for me, as a photographer, than working with a couple that loves being engaged, and loves being in love!

When couples get engaged, the desert calls. And the best time of day for an engagement session totally depends on the direction the light is coming from. The human eye sees something very different than the camera. We look at a beautiful scene and watch it light up in the setting (or rising) sun but when you put a human (or two) into that same scene, if the sun is directly on them, it causes some serious squinting, which no one likes in their photos! As a professional photographer with 12 years of experience, I know how to find and maximize a location and which locations works at which times of day. Yes, with off camera light a little bit of shade, anything location can be photographed. But for that warm, golden, buttery light, there’s a direction and a timing that is essential. One of the benefits of hiring me as your photographer is that you get this expertise and guidance, which guarantees you’ll have amazing photos. Pinky swear cross my heart. ; )
