I love engagement sessions with dogs!
Dogs and Engagement Sessions
When couples that I work with ask if they can bring along their dogs for their engagement sessions, of course I say yes! There’s nothing better than some puppy love to bring out genuine laughter and a little bit of fun.
When working with dogs in engagement and family sessions, it’s really important that the dogs look at the camera at the same time – a feat that can be accomplished with treats, toys, or having someone else there to call their names. We had all three! But still the session requires time, as the dogs are always so curious about the new environment, and smells, and people, and my Profoto lights which can sometimes distract with the flashes. But I use a combination of multiple takes, interactive images, and just plain patience to get the best images possible.
Location Matters
Elizabeth and Billy are getting married in the Spring and they wanted a fall engagement session with a location that showcases the mountains but also some of the local architecture. This location was perfect. We had some beautiful scenery and a gorgeous sunset.
Capturing the Moments
When I photograph engagement sessions, I am looking to capture sweet moments, serious moments, and fun moments. Through a combination of natural posing and the couple’s willingness to be a little romantic, and a little silly (if that is their personality) we definitely can achieve that. And I believe we totally did with Elizabeth and Billy’s session!
